I had one of those "first day of school" dreams. Eem.
+start dream+
It was the first day of school. We all got our new lockers. Mine was on in the center square of K-pod, first floor. However, K-pod had shrunken! The walking space decreased to two people across, if you leave enough space for the people at their lockers. Therefore, it was very crowded.
Since it was the first day of school, I thought I wouldn't really need anything except a folder. So, I tossed everything into my locker, minus a light blue folder, and shut it. Then I expertly maneuvered around people in the crowded pod & scurried up the stairs.
The second floor of K-pod was the normal size, & it seemed considerably empty. I easily walked across the hall & entered K-212. I recognized it as my history classroom from ninth grade. Even the teacher was the same, except he was actually well-groomed! I strolled into the third row & placed my folder on the desk. I noticed that Kyle was sitting in the fourth desk (same seating arrangeement as freshman history) & greeted him. Before I could even sit down, the teacher said, "I expect you all have your calculators. You should."
I whirled around, hop-stepped forward on my right foot, pointed at the teacher, & yelled, "LOCKER!" He said, "Yeah, go get it." I ran out of the room & made a mad dash for the stairwell. I found a zig-zagged path around other students on the stairs, & I traveled that. Once at the bottom of the stairs, I hopped over people crouched at their lockers & took a dive at mine. I struggled to open it, because I couldn't quite remember the combination, but I finally managed to get my graphing calculator out. The halls were emptying now, & I leisurely rounded the corner & headed to the stairs.
However, I realized that I left my purse in my locker, & it had my combination in it! I rushed back to my locker, but I couldn't remember the combo! I guessed & tried all different numbers, but to no avail. I got very worried, because I had been gone from class for a while now.
Then, I heard a voice behind me, asking if I was having trouble opening my locker. It was Mr. O'Brien, I thought. I knew he would help me. I told him that I forgot the combination, & it was inside my locker. While he was trying to figure out the lock, I asked what he did when he forgot his locker combination. He replied, "Oh, I never forgot my combination." I felt stupid, and I was sure he thought I was a clueless freshman.
While Mr. O'Brien worked on my locker, I loitered around the corner, talking to these three random girls. Finally, he came around & told me that he got my locker open. I thanked him & went back to my locker.
Mr. O'Brien had closed it when he was done! And he didn't even tell me the combination! I felt defeated & knew that I was going to get in trouble for missing class. I kept trying & trying, but I couldn't remember how to open it....
