So I was in gym class, running outside on a cloudy first period morning. On this run, I saw one of those large green signs that you'd normally find on the highway. It was hidden among the trees. Anyway, I traveled down a little pathway between some trees where this one kid was running up a hill - let me describe the scene.

So one kid was running up the hill and intended to go down the hill and back using the straight ground. Everyone else was running on the level ground and was going to go back using the hill. I motioned with my hands directing the crowd and said, "I thought we were supposed to go this way," meaning up the hill and back on the straight ground. They all turned around. Then we ran back to the gym. When we were back in the gym, there were a bunch of people sitting on the floor who did not run with us. I heard Miss O'Connor yell to us, "Remember, you're supposed to do 2 laps!" On the way back out, I heard her tell the people that they were "waiting on" us, naming our names, when half the class was still completing their first time around. Anyway, we 2nd-lappers only ran about 5 feet outside before turning around and going back in. Miss O'Connor seemed not to notice we did not run all the way around. She told us to get into groups. I was standing next to Chelsey & Hannah, and Chelsey mumbled something. I said, "Yeah sure," and we three sat down. Miss O'Connor kept looking at the clock. She said to the group of girls sitting closest to her, "To tell you the truth, I'm leaving after this period." Who knows how much later, we were all still in the same positions. Miss O'Connor asked Courtney S., who wasn't doing gym, to get something out of the closet. She said, "Hey, Miss S******, you don't look so good. Are you leaving in six minutes too?" Courtney nodded and disappeared into the closet. Then Miss O'Connor made an odd expression before saying, "Achoo." Many of us were confused because we weren't sure if that was a sneeze. Some guy commented, "You were, like, holding that back all period." Miss O'Connor replied, "Well, y'know, I'm not supposed to sneeze," as if we once followed that rule too. One girl called out, "So when I go to college, I won't be allowed to sneeze?" She didn't seem too happy about that.
